At Home Away From Home K9 Care, you will find a wide range of pet care services including personalized boarding, daycare, pet sitting and training. Owner Kari Ramirez has a true compassion for animals and has an in-depth understanding of animal behavior. Her extensive experience includes being a dog trainer at PetsMart, as well an animal specialist at SeaWorld working with dolphins, beluga whales, polar bears, walruses, seals and arctic foxes. She holds a degree in Psychology with an emphasis on learning theory and assists with weekly group puppy training classes.

As an owner of Weimaraners for the past 9 years, she understands how to work with high energy, high maintenance animals – and also what is important when looking for someone to care for, exercise and train your pets. With personalized, caring attention, Kari ensures that each dog (or cat) has a rewarding experience.

Cage-free boarding is a great alternative to boarding at a vet or dog kennel. Pets are not left alone or secluded during the day or overnight. Dogs stay in the family home with free-range access to two large fenced yards and take part in the household routine. The number of dogs staying overnight is limited to three so they receive personalized attention. Boarding includes round-the-clock attention, “Kong time” and evening walks or trips to the Grape Street Dog Park, depending on the dog. Plus, the “little things”- updates and pictures emailed to you during your dogs stay and a ruff-port card at the end of their stay.

In addition to on-site boarding, Home Away From Home K9 Care offers pet sitting at your home, including picking up mail and watering plants (there is an additional travel fee for residences further than 10 miles of 92102). Kari offers ongoing private training and “fine-tuning” training, where she works on a specific behavior with your dog while you are away.
